Everyone has their own reason for investigating and pursuing work as a voice actor. Maybe you’ve been told you have a great voice. Or, you’re looking for a part-time income stream. Maybe you friends and family have told you you’re a great storyteller. I specialize in voice over coaching for people new to voiceover, like you, and help them acquire the skills and knowledge they need to become successful.

My own set of voice over coaching skills and knowledge is the result of 40 years as a voice actor. Add to that, experience as an instructor of voice-over at the college level, including Emerson College in Boston. And I’ve directly coached hundreds of individuals. My job as your coach is to start you off on the right foot with the voice acting skills you need to succeed in this fascinating business. The other part of my job as your coach is to help you with your demos, home studio, web site, marketing tools, and promotional materials.

Secret to Success

That said, there really is no secret to success in voice-over. The actual job seems pretty simple. You pick up a script and make it come alive for the listener. Ah, but if only it were that simple. All the other stuff doesn’t matter: how good your microphone and equipment are, who produced your demos, how pretty your website is, or how much marketing you do. Everything depends on whether you can deliver performances that satisfy your clients.

Voice-over is voice acting–a special type of acting. With just your voice you can move someone to buy something, learn something, feel something. Together, we’ll explore simple, effective techniques for doing that each time you step behind a microphone. When you can do that consistently, you’ll be ready to record your demo. Most important, you’ll be ready to deliver to a real producer–in a real paid session–what your demo promises.

Individual Attention

This isn’t a demo mill. I don’t offer a standard package of, say, 8 coaching sessions and, as soon as the last session is over, proclaim, “It’s time to make your demo!” Voice over coaching should fit you and your progress, not the other way around.

So, if my approach interests you, let’s talk. Call or text me at 860-856-3882 and we’ll chat for 15 minutes (no charge, no obligation, of course). We’ll discuss your voice-over aspirations and expectations, and how I can help you meet them. Meanwhile, check out the articles and blogs posts I’ve written on the art and craft of voiceover. Thanks!
